Pine Breath

Honestly the look of this Lego is what caught our attention. We’ve been wanting a Lego bonsai for a long time, but we don’t really love the design of the Lego brand bonsai. I have to say, the pieces were a little rough to assemble together cos they would be a little bit hard to fit onto each other, and although the instructions were easy to follow -I would have loved to have a bit more clarification of the color of the pieces they were referring to as it was a little confusing identifying if they were referring to for example dark green or light green for the next pieces other that that, we can say it is great quality. The size is perfect, and it looks beautiful in my desk.

It seems like every building set that comes into our house ends up being for my kids, so it was nice to finally have one that was meant for Dad. This was a relaxing project that I could work on at my own pace, and it made for a great break from screens.

The finished bonsai looks surprisingly elegant, and I really like that it includes interchangeable foliage. Being able to switch between the green branches and the snow-covered version gives it two completely different looks without needing another set.

The pieces fit together well, and the completed model feels sturdy once assembled. At around 10 inches tall, it's a nice size for a desk, bookshelf, or office without taking up too much room.

Overall, this is a fun and rewarding build that also makes a great display piece. If you enjoy building models or know someone who does, this is a unique set that stands out from the usual cars and vehicles.

This was a fun build, although a bit of repetition. The final product looks nice, a couple of attachments like to pop off if you don't handle it with care.

The instructions were fairly good, however a couple of issues. A couple of times it didn't tell you to rotate, so if you aren't looking at the pictures carefully, it can mess with you a little bit. Also, the color differences between light brown and dark brown are difficult to determine by the pictures. A magnifying glass helps.

This set is nice to allow side by side instructions for 'evergreen' vs 'snowy', so you can go back and do it again if you like, in a different season.

I appreciate the block removal tool, it's a bit different than others I've received in sets.

It's a pretty good cost for almost 1,000 pieces, although many are small pieces and the needle/bush pieces. The age limit on the box shows 18+, this would be fine for younger ages as well. I appreciate that this set is compatible with the mainstream brand, but generally a bit lower cost.

This set gives you the choice of either a standard or snowy look and I picked the standard one.

The pieces come in a set of 7 stages, each stage containing 1-3 properly labeled bags. The pieces themselves are all decent quality; I didn't have to fight any of the pieces so there wasn't anything that was too tight or too lose, and nothing warped, twisted or melted. They also included an odd M-shaped part separator; separators are always appreciated.

The instructions were good, but required close attention: some pages were specific to the snowy version vs not. That's pretty easy to do though since they made sure to have different background colors so it's very obvious. Most of the steps are pretty small as well, only a handful of pieces per.

At one point the model claims you can have up to 3 people working on the build at the same time, but it's just to create a certain number of near-identical branches. An included page shows the corrected number of required branches, and it's good to see the ongoing support for their project.

The build itself was straightforward for the most part, though there were one or two places that I had to look at a few times before I got it. I think it took a little less than 2 hours and I was done.

The finished model looks good, it's reasonably stable, and you can adjust the placement and rotation of the branches to suit your tastes.

If you're looking for an at home date night or something to do as a bordem buster, this is a great kit for a great price. The quality of the product compares to other name brand blocks in look and durability, for less cost. It would be great for adults and older kids.

My husband and I worked on this together and it was a lot of fun to watch it take shape as we but it. It actually looks like a mini bonsai tree. It took us 2-3 hours to put everything together. The base is about 5x6 inches and the tree itself is about 8inches tall.

My only negative to this is the instruction manual. The colors need to be adjusted the before printing. It was really hard to tell the difference between darker colors. Blacks, deep blues, two greens, and two browns looked very similar. I kept having to hold it up to a brighter light to see the difference.

We look forward to ordering more of these sets in the near future.

This is the third Wise Block bonsai tree set I have assembled. The others were tha autumn maple and the chrry blossom bonsai trees. Both of those were great and this one is right up there with them. This set comes in an attractive and sturdy box that would make for a great looking gift. The contents consists?of numbered bags of pieces with a colorfully illustrated instruction book that clearly details how to assemble the set. The first thing that you assemble is the planter for the tree, then the ground cover, then the tree trunk and lastly the branches and leaves, which are pine needle clusters in the case of this tree. These clusters come in two options, either green for a spring/summer tree, or white for a snow covered?winter tree. I love having this option. It will be fun to switch over to the snowy version closer to wintertime. I do wish the green version had more color contrast, like using two different shades of green for the pine clusters. That would give the tree some color depth that it currently doesn��t have. The set comes with a correction sheet that clarifies the number of pine clusters you are supposed to build. It looks like the original book was one short. The planter and trunk of the tree are?easy builds. The branches and pine clusters take a little more concentration to decipher exactly where each pine clump is supposed to be placed. I think this set would be a fun activity to do with a child as young as about 10, but any younger than that might be a bit of a difficult build. I love the finished look of the set. It looks great with the other bonsai tree sets I have. I almost have a mini forest now.

I had a great time assembling this pine bonsai building kit by Wise Block. The pieces feel sturdy and solid, with a quality that genuinely rivals the name brand. The instructions are clear and guide you through each step - just keep an eye on the difference between black and blue pieces, since I had to backtrack a bit after mixing them up early on.

I also really appreciate the little tool included for popping off any pieces you’ve attached incorrectly; it makes disassembly so much easier. The bags are clearly labeled to match the instruction book, which helps keep everything organized as you go. Every piece snaps together firmly and so satisfyingly. I used the green option, but it’s cool that you also have the choice of making the bonsai a snowy tree.

Design-wise, this bonsai tree is beautiful. I love nature‑themed block kits, and this one is going to look perfect displayed alongside my other builds once it’s finished. Fun to assemble, unique design, and great quality - I definitely recommend this Wise Block kit.

Fun build. If there was a different way to add in the white ones I would’ve given it 5 stars. Instructions should be having you mix in white ones before you start the bonsai leaves instead of telling builders after the tree is finished. Once you pull out a branch, the wrench/connector is stretched and won’t hold again as well. They only included one white limb, but there were still places open to add more white limbs. The other white leaves had to be mixed in with the green, which means pulling out limbs to apply the white. It could’ve been so much easier if only this was told before attaching limbs to the tree

This bonsai set is well designed from a structural standpoint. The tree has a strong internal framework, the shaping is thoughtful, and the overall build experience is smooth. The components are decent quality, with reliable clutch power and clean molding, and the instructions are adequately illustrated and paced to keep the project moving without friction.

Where the set falls short is in its color execution. The interchangeable foliage is a nice idea, but each color zone is extremely uniform: all the green leaves share the same shade, the ground cover matches that same tone, the rocks are a single grey, and the pot is one uninterrupted blue. Aside from a couple variations in the browns used for the trunk, there��s very little tonal diversity. This lack of variation makes the final model feel simplified and somewhat unnatural, especially compared to other bonsai?style brick builds that rely on subtle color shifts to create depth.

Despite that limitation, the build itself is enjoyable, and the design is solid. It��s a calming project with a pleasing silhouette, but it would have benefitted greatly from a more nuanced palette to bring the scene to life.

Just love this. So pretty and full. I would definitely recommend to all.

I was unsure of the 'pine' look of this build and I am actually quite happy with the appearance. I did the straight green as the white looked off to me. Instruction were easy to understand, and easy to assemble. Did not require glue. Less costly than some other brands.

I had a great time building this bonsai tree set. The build process was relaxing and enjoyable from start to finish. The instructions were clear, the pacing felt just right, and watching the tree slowly grow as each section came together was surprisingly calming. It’s one of those sets where the building experience is just as rewarding as the final result. The finished model is genuinely impressive. The shape of the trunk, the flowing branches, and the overall silhouette look far better than I expected from a non LEGO brand. One detail I really appreciated is that the set includes seasonal variations: white branches and snowy rocks that can be swapped in to give the bonsai a winter appearance. The option is a nice touch and adds extra value, but I personally chose to stick with the all green look because it felt more natural and visually clean to me. The only real downside, and the reason I didn’t give it the full 5 stars, is that one piece arrived crushed and broken. This made it difficult to properly attach the surrounding pieces to that section, and it caused some minor alignment issues. I was still able to complete the build, but it definitely took more effort and patience than it should have. Despite that, I’m very happy with the end result. The tree makes a great display piece, and the quality of the majority of the pieces is solid with good clutch power. If all the pieces had arrived intact, this would easily be a perfect 5-star experience. Still, for the price and the overall aesthetic, it’s a beautiful and enjoyable set that I’m glad I built.

This bonsai tree building block set was quite enjoyable to put together. It is designed for adults, but older teenagers should have no trouble assembling it. There are actually two different styles included. One with green leaves, and one with white "snow" leaves. This really adds a lot of flexibility to the model and makes it easy to adapt to changes in season or home decor.

The included instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. The model went together reasonably well. However, I did have some issues with warping of some of the bricks. This made them not want to stick together. However, once it was all fully assembled I was able to press them on. It isn't ideal, but it does work. The quality of the materials is on the budget side. It won't be like the more expensive popular building bricks brand. The bricks are typical sized, which I appreciate.

Overall, this is a fair priced building bricks set that is fun to assemble and looks nice. I would have preferred it be a little more affordable, but it does seem to be offered at a fair value. The customizability of the model is the real appeal, and the little details really help make this model work. I am happy to have it on display in my home.
